Who we are

Based upon the principles of Positive Behaviour Support, we provide a highly pragmatic, problem-solving approach to assist with challenging behaviour.

Registered service provider with NDIS and situated on NSW Central Coast, Acorn Behaviour Consultancy has been providing positive behaviour support services since 2006.

Our Behaviour Support Clinicians come to you with expertise in the fields of intellectual disability and mental health and are genuinely passionate about positive practices in behaviour support.

Our goal is to eliminate challenging behaviour by improving quality of life.

We provide support to people with intellectual disabilities, ranging in age from pre-school to maturity, whose disabilities extend from mild to severe, in a range of community settings.

What we do

  • Functional behavioural assessments addressing various environmental, historical and individual variables.
  • Person-centred plans to address challenging behaviour, ranging from social withdrawal and self-stimulatory behaviours to more seriously challenging behaviours such as self-injurious or aggressive behaviour and property damage.
  • Intervention practices to fit the individual’s unique social context.
  • Skills analysis through review of psychological, developmental, and language assessment reports; interviews with key supports and direct observation in key settings.
  • Assessment and recommendations where secondary mental health issues are evident.
  • Training of staff in data collection and implementation of BIS plan.
  • Evaluation and periodic review of BIS plans.
